U-14's Defeated by Salthill in Champ 1st Round

Our U-14 team commenced the 1st round of championship last Saturday where they took on Salthill/Knocknacarra in Salthill. Our team were at a distinct disadvantage as we had to field with thirteen players against fifteen where five players were absent due to a combination of genuine reasons. However the team fought bravely through out and were never behind until the closing moments when Salthill got a 2nd goal to lead the game for the 1st time. Abbey got a chance in the final moment with a goal chance created by J. Joyce, however good defensive play by Salthill saw the ball go wide with Salthill winning on a score line of 2-2 to 0-6. Overall the team as a whole has to be commended for there excellent efforts and unlucky to lose out. For the record the team was K Boyle, F Ward, J Dooley, S King, P Muldowney, D Coleman, G Cosgrove, R Cosgrove, C Cooley (0-2f), C Flaherty (0-3), C Higgins, K Farrley, J Joyce (0-1). Training continues this Thur at 6.30 with 2nd C’ship game this sat in Abbey v Kinvara
