Our 14’s did us proud once again last Thursday when after their county championship semi- final went to extra time Monday evening we were forced out to play the final Thursday evening in Duggan park Ballinasloe against Pearses. As usual this panel of players gave it their all and put on a massive display of hurling in the first half and went in at the break 2-02 to 0—02  up and should have been more. As we expected due to fatigue our lads tired rapidly in the second half and Pearses hit their purple patch and they took control of the game and threw everything they had at us. True to form our great young lads soaked up the pressure and when backs were to walls they answered and ticked every box needed and finished with a flurry of goals to end convincing winners on score line of 5-05 to 2-06. Great credit has to go to every member of this panel they’ve had a hectic few weeks since being crowned Feile champions a few weeks back but they’ve shown great commitment and dedication. They also have National Feile to look forward to which takes place 8-10th June and we wish them well. Special mention to Daire Wynne who is a big part of our panel, who attended his granny’s funeral on Thursday afternoon but was first man in the dressing room for the final on Thursday evening, well done Daire and sincere sympathies to you and your family on your loss.

Panel was:

Shane Forde, Cuan Lennon, Kevin Maher, Oisin Murphy, Niall Mannion, Jamie Cosgrove, Daire Wynne, Kian Flaherty, Alex Boyle, Darragh Maloney, Michael Keary, Niall Mannion, Olin Murray, Dean Collins, Michael Killarney, Patrick Balfe, Cian Quirke. Management: Jerry Quirke, Denis Byrne, Declan Molloy.

Our junior B hurlers got their championship off to a great start last Sunday when we hosted Rahoon/ Newcastle at home and won convincingly with some super hurling played. Final score was 6-15 to 1-07. Well done to panel and management.

Our U12 & 13’s welcomed Clan na Gael Dublin to the pitch last sat for a display game, our contact was James Dolly formerly Newtown and the great Dolly family. It was a great afternoon to see the pitch full of kids playing and most importantly to see them all having fun getting to know each other after the games over a cup of tea. Sincere thanks to all parents who supplied food and refreshments for our guests. Thanks to James Dolly for facilitating.
