Junior Hurling: After playing 13 games this year the junior team bowed out of the championship on Wednesday evening. The game, played under lights v Padraig Pearses was end to end. Two goals from Pearses in the first half put Abbey under pressure but with Liam McCarthy in flying form scoring 8 points from play and Daniel Flaherty punishing Pearses with 6 points from frees and 1 point from play, the game went to extra time. While it didn’t go well for Abbey, losing at the end by 2-19 to 0-19, there were many high-lights throughout the game and the team and panel can be proud of their performance. Special thanks to the management team of Aidan Flaherty, Keith Higgins and Kevin Lally for their commitment this year. Thanks also to Kellys Bar Monivea for their sponsorship of the Junior B team this year and to Mike Coleman for the first aid. Team Declan Molloy, Mike O’Brien, Dave Carton, Ger Ruane, Paddy Flaherty 0-1, Paul Cooley , Conor Cooley, Adrian MacDonald, Darren Collins 0-1 Capt, Jason Flaherty 0-1 , Vinny Lally , Daniel Flaherty 0-1, 0-6f, Shane King 0-1, Liam McCarthy 0-8, Declan Moran. Subs Keith Higgins, Ja Moran, Mark Flaherty, Steven Joyce, Steven Lally, Tomas Boyle, Wayne Maloney, Sean McCarthy, Barry Flaherty, Darren Blade.

Camogie Club: Congratulations to Sinead Coleman and the Galway U-14 squad on winning the All-Ireland in Dublin on Saturday.

Hard luck to the U-10’s who lost their final replay against Mountbellew on Saturday. It was another brilliant game with very little between the sides. The U-14’s are in a North Board shield final on Monday against Killimordaly. The U-16 girls are away to Skehana on Tuesday.

Good luck to the U-12 ladies footballers in their semi-final on Friday. U-11 and U-9 training is on Tuesday at 6pm for this week. U-11s are at home to Clarinbridge on Sunday at 11am.
