HURLING CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS 2015

SENIOR REGULATIONS 2015

SENIOR CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 22 Teams will compete in the 2015 Senior Championship
  • 22 Teams form 4 groups; 2 groups x 6 teams and 2 groups x 5 teams, Groups are drawn by open draw.
  • Sequence of group games as per Serva Sport Matrixes
  • Top 2 teams in each group qualify to Quarter-Finals.
  • Position of teams in group level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014
  • Quarter-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Semi-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Winner of the final are Champions and compete in the All-Ireland Senior Club Championship,

SENIOR A 2016 Qualifiers

  • 2015 quarter finalists qualify automatically for Senior A
  • Remaining 14 teams in Championship groups not qualifying for knockout stages compete for four remaining places in Senior A in 2016.
  • 14 teams divided into 4 groups by open draw; 2 groups of 4 teams and 2 groups of 3 teams
  • 4 group winners qualify to complete 12 team Senior A in 2016
  • Position of teams in group finishing level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014
  • Remaining 10 teams join Intermediate finalists to form a 12 team Senior B in 2016

SENIOR Shield 2015

  • Group winners from Senior A 2016 Qualifiers meet in open draw semi-finals
  • Extra-time to be played in Semi-Final Shield games.

INTERMEDIATE REGULATIONS 2015

INTERMEDIATE CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 14 Teams ie: Team relegated from Senior, 12 Teams 2014 Championship and Junior A champions 2014.
  • 14 Teams.2 groups x 7 teams. Open draw
  • Sequence of group games as per Serva Sport Matrixes
  • Top 4 teams in each group qualifies to Quarter-Finals.
  • Position of teams in group level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014
  • Quarter-Finals to be cross played 1A V 4B etc. Extra-time in these games.
  • Semi-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Winner of final are Champions and compete in the Connacht Intermediate Championship

PROMOTION

  • Champions are promoted to Senior B for 2016. Losing finalists are promoted to Senior B also

RELEGATION

  • Teams 6 and 7 in each group cross play 6A V 7B, 6B V 7A, with the losers playing a relegation final and the loser being relegated to Junior A for 2016. Junior A champions 2014 cannot be relegated in 2015. In the event of Junior A champions 2014 qualifying for a relegation semi-final, the three other teams will be drawn in a three way playoff, A v B and the loser v C and the loser of that tie being relegated to Junior A

JUNIOR REGULATIONS 2015

JUNIOR A CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 23 teams in 2 groups of 8 and 1 group of 7 teams. Open draw except Junior clubs drawn first from a separate pot to ensure even distribution of Junior clubs between the 3 groups.
  • Sequence of group games as per Serva Sport Matrixes
  • Top team in each group and one second place team (drawn by lot) qualify for quarter finals directly. Remaining two second placed teams and third and fourth placed teams qualify for open draw preliminary quarter finals. Preliminary quarter final winners play direct qualifiers in open draw quarter finals.
  • Extra-time in these games.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • All games at neutral venues.

Promotion:

  • Winner promoted to Intermediate Championship for 2016.

JUNIOR A SHIELD

  • Teams not qualifying for championship Quarter-Finals can choose to compete in open draw knockout competition.
  • Quarter-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in all shield games.
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23 TO 2014.

JUNIOR ‘1’ COMPETITION 2015

TEAMS FROM JUNIOR HURLING CLUBS ONLY

  • 10 Teams: 2 groups of 5 teams.
  • Sequence of games as per Serva Sport Matrixes.
  • Top 2 teams in each group qualify to Semi-finals
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in these games.
  • Position of teams in groups on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23.TO 2014.
  • Winner represents Galway in Connacht Junior championship.

JUNIOR B CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 23 Teams to form 2 groups of 8 and one group of 7 teams.
  • Open draw for groups except Junior clubs drawn are first from a separate pot to ensure even distribution of Junior clubs between the 3 groups.
  • Sequence of games as per Serva Sport Matrixes
  • Top Four teams in each group qualifies to knockout stages
  • Group winners and one second placed team (drawn by lot) qualify for quarter finals
  • Remaining second placed teams, and third and fourth placed teams play preliminary quarter-finals, 4V4. Preliminary quarter-final draw to be open draw. 4 winners to quarter-finals to join existing 4 qualifiers.
  • Quarter-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in these games.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • All games at neutral venues.
  • Position of teams in groups level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014.

JUNIOR B SHIELD

  • Teams not qualifying for championship knockout can choose to compete in open draw knockout competition.
  • Quarter-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in all shield games.

JUNIOR C CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 18 Teams. 2 groups of 2 x9 , Sequence of games as per Serva Sport Matrixes.
  • Junior clubs seeded to appear in each group.
  • Top Four teams in each group qualifies to Quarter-Finals
  • Quarter-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in these games.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Position of teams in groups level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014.

JUNIOR C SHIELD

  • Teams not qualifying for championship Quarter-Finals can choose to compete in open draw knockout competition
  • Quarter-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Semi-Final draw to be open draw.
  • Extra-time in all shield games.
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23. TO 2014.

JUNIOR C1 CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 5 Teams.1 group, Single round. Sequence of games as per Serva Sport Matrixes
  • Top 2 teams contest semi-finals open draw.
  • Position of teams in groups finishing level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014

U21 REGULATIONS 2015

U21 A CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 16 Teams will participate in the U21 A championship
  • A. In the opening round, 8 teams v 8 teams following an open draw.
  • B. Winners at A play 4 teams v 4 teams with the following draw; W1 v W2, W3 v W4, W5 v W6, W7 v W8. The four winning teams at B go into Quarter- Finals. Four losing teams advance to prelim Quarter-Finals.
  • C. Losers at A play 4 teams v 4 teams with the following draw; L1 v L2. L3v L4, L5 v L6, L7 v L8. Four winning teams advance to Pre Quarter-Finals.
  • D. Winners at C play losers at B 4 v 4. Winners advance to Quarter-Finals. Open draw (except where the draw sees a repeat of a previous fixture).
  • E. Quarter & Semi-Final draws to be open draw
  • Extra-time to be played in the event of a draw in all knockout games except final.
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23. TO 2014.

U21 B CHAMPIONSHIP

  • 18 Teams will participate in the U21 B championship
  • A 18 Teams are drawn into 6 groups of 3 teams each. The teams in each group play each other in a league format to determine a winner.
  • B Winner of each group qualifies for Quarter/Semi Final Draw. Two teams qualify automatically for semi-finals while the remaining 4 teams qualify for two quarter finals.Quarter & Semi-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Extra-time to be played in the event of a draw in all knockout games except final.
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23. TO 2014.
  • In the group phase, the position of teams in groups finishing level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014.20 (5) (C) TO 2014.

U21 C CHAMPIONSHIP (13-a-side)

  • 5 Teams will participate in the U21 C championship
  • A The teams in the group play each other in a league format to determine a winner.
  • B The top two teams in the group phase meet in the final
  • Games are played with teams of 13-a-side
  • Teams failing to fulfil a fixture will incur penalties as per Rule 6.23. TO 2014.
  • In the group phase, the position of teams in groups finishing level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014.

MINOR REGULATIONS 2015

MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP A

  • 12 Teams will participate in the Minor A Championship
  • 12 Teams form 2 groups x 6 teams decided by an open draw. The teams in each group play each other in a league format to determine their ranking.
  • Group games are at home/away venues
  • Top 4 teams in each group qualify to Quarter-Finals.
  • Quarter-Finals to be cross played 1A v 4B, 2A v 3B, 3A v 2B, 4A v 1B at neutral venues.
  • Extra-time in quarter-final games.
  • Semi-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Position of teams in group level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C) TO 2014

MINOR SHIELD A

  • Teams 5 & 6 in each group not qualifying for quarter-finals playoff for shield in the following format i.e. 5A v 6B, 5B v 6A in Semi-Finals. Winners meet in Shield Final
  • Extra-time in all shield games

MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP B

  • 22 Teams will participate in the Minor B Championship
  • 22 Teams form 2 groups x 6 teams and 2 groups x 5 teams selected by open draw.
  • Group games are at home/away venues
  • Top two teams in each group qualify for knockout stages.
  • 8 qualifying teams in open Quarter-Final draw.
  • Quarter-Finals to be cross played 1A v 4B, 2A v 3B, 3A v 2B, 4A v 1B at neutral venues.
  • Position of teams in group level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C). TO 2014

MINOR SHIELD B

  • Teams not qualifying for Quarter Finals may enter Shield Competition to be played on a knockout format.
  • Extra-time in all shield games

MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP B1 (13-a-side)

  • 7 Teams will participate in the Minor B1 Championship
  • 7 Teams form 1 group. The teams in each group play each other in a league format to determine their ranking.
  • Group games are at home/away venues
  • Top four teams qualify to semi-finals.
  • Semi-Final draws to be open draw.
  • Position of teams in group level on points to be determined as per Rule 6.20 (5) (C). TO 2014
