Seniors played two good challenges last week against Castlegar & Pearses in preparation for first round of championship next Sunday when we meet Kilnadeema-Leitrim in Ballinasloe @ 4.30pm.

Seniors were presented with their medals for the successful intermediate campaign two years ago. Thanks to all who came along for a good night
Minor championship V Sarsfields was postponed due to water logged pitch in Bullaun. Junior league was once again postponed V Athenry.

Our U14's were involved in Feile action last weekend where they welcomed Ballindereen to Abbey on Friday evening and put on a great display of hurling and ran out easy winners. The big game of the group saw Abbey pitted against Castlegar in Ballindereen on Saturday where the winner was fancied to progress to semi final in Craughwell on Saturday. Abbey started the game brightly against a strong wind and went 1-01 to no score up having played all the hurling in Castlegar half but when the first ball to land in our square was pulled on by the Abbey defence the referee signaled for a penalty which was duly put away and seemed to stun our players. Castlegar quickly got a second fortuitous goal also and at halftime the score was 3-01 to 1-01. With still plenty to play for with the aid of a strong wind Abbey just couldn't get into their normal rhythm in the second half and Castlegar were keeping the scoreboard ticking with the frees they were given. But true Abbey style they never lay down and even though they were struggling all day to hit top gear they still hit the net twice but in the end were always playing catch up and the game ended out hopes of qualification on score line of 3-05 to 3-01. That's sport and most importantly we wish a speedy recovery to a young man who unfortunately missed out on feile weekend due to having his appendix operation on the previous Tues and everyone wishes Thady the very best.

Sincere thanks to Padraic & Eileen McGann for their generous s/ship and for their hospitality after the game.

Many thanks to all parents who helped out Friday and over the weekend and for their continued support as always.

Last month Abbeyknockmoy kicked off the new season with their Annual Medal Presentation from the 2016 season. Looking back it's been a good year for the club and we are grateful to parents, players and supporters for their commitment throughout the year.
On the day, we had Niamh Kilkenny present medals to all players in the following categories: U14B Summer League runners up, U16B Shield winners, U14 North Board Shield winners, U12A County Winners, U12 North Board League winners, U11A Summer League winners, U10 North Board League runners up, U13 North Board League winners.

Abbeyknockmoy Camogie Club hosted the Galway County Board Camogie Lotto last month in O'Donohoes Bar. The numbers drawn were 4, 20, 21, 24. There was no winner for the Jackpot so 4 lucky dip winners receive €25 each instead. They are Peter kelly, Pat McGrath, Adrianna Lee and Mark Joyce.

Abbeyknockmoy Camogie Club would like to thank all who supported the Lotto which only comes to the parish once a year.
