Underage Hurling: Underage training for U6, U8 & U10's continues every Friday evening at 6.15pm. All welcome.

CATS 2016 is fixed for 17thSeptember at Loughgeorge for all 6, 8 & 10's.

U12 training continues Thurs 7-8pm, with plans for upcoming Donegal outing on 25th sept being finalised.

U13's are County Champions after they won their County Final Sunday beating Sylane in Duggan Park Ballinasloe on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The final score line was 1-11 to 2-02. This team certainly deserved this win after their superb commitment and dedication shown all year, they are a wonderful bunch of lads. Whilst it wasn't the best hurling we've played this year it was evident from the throw in that we were on top in most areas with the backs keeping Sylane scoreless from play for the entire game with Darragh Burke a rock at full back. Our midfield partnership of Mark and Jamie worked hard throughout with Jamie Collins covering every blade of grass in Duggan Park and really kept driving Abbey Forward and thankfully and deservedly picked up man of the match award. Our forwards were sharp with captain Cian Forde leading the charge and hats off to Thady Moran who gave a superb display from frees considering the poor fella was sick all morning and had to pull over twice on motorway to get sick and also on the pitch just after halftime. But there was no question of him coming off and there was no way we were taking him off anyway after his displays all year. Another player who needs mentioning is Mark Crehan who with a chipped bone in his arm pulled on a jersey and stood in corner forward when we only had 14 players and needed to start 2nd half with 15 or we'd lose the points against Annaghdown a few weeks ago.

They're just two stories of dedication but the entire panel have sacrificed weekends away, family holidays and much more all year, so well done to all. Sincere thanks to all parents for continued support all year. Panel was Jamie Burke, James Quirke, Darragh Burke, Lennon Doyle, Daire King, Michael Molloy, Olin Murray, Jamie Collins, Mark Crehan, Niall Farragher, Thady Moran, Gavin Kelly, Cian Quirke, Cian Forde captain, Sean Lydon, Dylan Cosgrove, Cillian Rabbitte, Shane Forde, Mathew Lally, Dean Collins. Management Declan Molloy, Adrian Forde, and Cathal Moran.

U15 championship starts this Thursday V Rahoon/Newcastle in Tonabrocky. Best of luck to Jerry and Management

Camogie Club: Well done to the u10 girls who drew with Mountbellew after two bouts of extra time in Ballinasloe on Saturday. The club couldn't be prouder of the girls as they battled for nearly 50 minutes to secure a draw. A date for the replay will be set this week.

Best of luck to the U14 girls who play Ahascragh in the North Board semi-final on Wednesday in Fohenagh. U11s play Cappataggle on Saturday in Abbey.

Best of luck to the Monivea/Abbey Intermediate footballers who are in Championship action this Friday eve against Williamstown in Tuam Stadium.
