Abbeyknockmoy Hurling Club are hosting a fundraiser and a charity cycle in aid of Galway Hospice on Saturday 19th August from Croke park to Abbeyknockmoy. This promises to be a wonderful occasion and we ask any person who has ever sat on a bike to give this a go! We are looking for teams of 4 to cycle 50km each. Individuals are also welcome. We ask that each person signed up raises €250 minimum between now and August. You can register your interest through Facebook or contact any club officer. There will be plenty of stops on this cycle as it is not a race. The plan is to leave Croke Park at 8am and take our time via the old Galway road. This is the first time we have attempted such a fundraiser and we are delighted to be able to help Galway Hospice also. Snacks and drinks will be provided on the way but obviously have your own food too. There will be lead cars and broom wagons as with all charity cycles so no one will be left behind! Club will provide free buttock cream for those not too used to the bike for a few years!!! But seriously this is a great cycle for any cyclist to have on their CV and it will be a great day and night afterwards in Abbeyknockmoy. More details to follow in the coming weeks with sponsorship cards, jerseys etc all being printed.
