Underage hurling training for U6 and U8's has come to an end for 2016. Well done to all kids for their commitment all year. Sincere thanks to all our coaches for their dedication and commitment all year. See you all in 2017.

Our annual CATS blitz took place last Sunday in Loughgeorge Claregalway hosted this year by Turloughmore. Many thanks to Susan and Colette from Turloughmore for their assistance.

It was great to see all the kids skipping in the door with big smiling faces bursting to get the Abbey jersey on their backs, especially for our U6's who were there in great numbers and donned the Abbey jersey for the first time. They were super excited and all kids on our U6, U8 and U10's panels represented the club with great pride and passion. The weather wasn't too kind on the day but the sheeting rain only seemed to affect the adults as the kids hurled away oblivious to it all. Every player on every team left with a medal and a goodie bag. Well done to all concerned.

Our U10's will continue to train for next few weeks and hopefully will have a game next weekend TBC.

Our U12's headed to Donegal bright and early last Sunday morning for the invitational ‘Aodh Ruadh’ tournament in Ballyshannon. After some super displays in the early rounds we ended up meeting the hosts in the final and after a great battle we were narrowly beaten but lost nothing in defeat. Many thanks to John and crew in Aodh Ruadh for the invite and hospitality. Thanks to the hurling club for providing the bus for the day.

Our U12's are in the Cup final this Wednesday in Duggan Park Ballinasloe at 7.30pm we wish them the very best of luck.

Our U15's came from being 7 points down in Abbey last Thursday evening against Pearses Roscommon to win the game by a late goal. Credit to the team as they decided to hurl in the second half and worked very hard. We're now into a three way playoff and await details of same.

Camogie Club: Congratulations to the U-16, 14 and 12 ladies on their respective wins this week. The U-16’s won the county shield followed by the U-14s who won the North Board shield and the U-12’s who won the Cup. Also well done to U-9’s who had a good win Saturday evening in Abbey.

Thanks to everyone who lit fires and supported the girls on their tour of the parish. Also a big thanks to Eileen and Padraig McGann for hosting the girls afterwards and putting on food for the 3 teams. Very much appreciated.

U11s are away to Pearses Monday evening.

Best of luck to the Monivea/Abbey intermediates in their intermediate championship semi-final this weekend.

Congrats to Brendan Flaherty & Tara O'Grady who were married last weekend.
