Underage: Underage hurling has finished for this year, Please keep practising and we'll notify all schools when we return next spring.

Our U12's had an absolutely dream weekend. Firstly on Saturday morning they won the Division 2 final in Craughwell by beating Michael Cusacks, on a score line of 5-5 to 2-4 in what was a good competitive game of hurling with some excellent skills on display. We were 3-3 to 0-02 up at half time after some well worked goals set up through the hard working defence. At the start of the 2nd half Cusacks got a goal almost from the throw in but our lads don't do panic and from the puck out after some sublime passing and movement we replied with a goal which is the sign of a good team, that was it - game over. Captain for the day was Dara Burke and Michael Molloy received the Man of the match award kindly sponsored by Ocean Hygiene. After 8 league games this team were only beaten once by Castlegar but that was due to a lot away on holidays etc. They have had a brilliant year beating some of the best hurling teams in the county namely, Kilimordaly, Liam Mellows, Ballindereen, Rahoon /Newcastle & Kinvara. Well done lads for your commitment and dedication this year. Thanks also to parents for their continued support.

Panel for final was : Jamie burke, Dara Burke, Lennan Doyle, James Quirke, Cian Forde, Mark Crehan, Niall Farragher, Tady Moran, Jamie Collins, Gavin Kelly, Sean Lydon, Olin Murray, Michael Molloy, Cian Quirke, Shane Forde, Dean Collins, Cillian Rabbitte, Dara King, Niall Mannion, Kian Flaherty, Mathew Lally, Jack Kearney. Management: Declan Molloy, Adrian Forde and Cathal Moran.

Our U12's were kindly invited to Ballyshannon, Co. Donegal to an invitation only tournament called Aodh O'Dalaigh in existence since 1982. After the great win on Saturday we left Abbey Pitch at 7.30am (with a lot of sleepy heads) and we headed North. We were drawn in group 1 with Loch Mor Dal gCais Antrim, Keady, Armagh & our neighbours Tuam. We played the Antrim team first and after a sleepy start we eventually got the better of them, we then eased through the group pretty much knowing that we were on a collision course Cup Final with Cushendall Antrim who were putting up big scores in group 2 to see who would win the prestigious Aodh O'Dalaigh Cup final. In the end we both ended up in the cup final and words can't describe this final. I can only quote what the organising club issued on their website after the finals "the Aodh O'Dalaigh final was a thriller and was without doubt the greatest underage game of hurling in Fr Tierney Park". We had a super Captain for the day, Cian Forde who led both on and off the field. Sincere thanks to Aodh Ruadh HC for the kind invitation especially to John Rooney for organising events and to the club for catering for the team and travelling party with refreshments. Sincere thanks also the Abbey HC for covering the bus cost for the day and their support. Many thanks to all parents who travelled and supported this exceptional group.

Our U15's bowed out of this year’s Championship after losing out to a physically strong Ballinasloe side in Ballinasloe last Saturday afternoon. Ballinasloe got off to a great start and were well up at halftime but credit to our players they got stuck into the 2nd half. We played much better and with a bit of luck early in the 2nd half after hitting the upright etc. it may have all been different. Many thanks to Michael Coleman and Jerry Quirke for looking after this team.

Many thanks to Caelum Mulry and Fionann Garvey who at short notice and tight timeline managed to call to all the schools in the parish last Fri proudly displaying the Irish Press Cup and the Connacht Football cup. Thanks lads.

Camogie: Hard luck to the u14 girls who were beaten in the North board semi-final on Wednesday evening on a score line of 1-8 to 4-0 by Kilimordaly. Congrats to U 11 girls who beat Eyre court in the County semi-final on Friday evening. Good luck to all our players who take part in the schools competition that starts this week. Games will be held on Monday and Friday evenings over the next 2 weeks. There will be no training while this competition is running. Congrats to Suzanne O’Brien and Patrick Coleman, Crumlin, who recently got engaged.
