Hurling: Training continues this week for the U21’s, Juniors and Intermediates on Tuesday at 7:30pm and Friday at 8pm on the astro pitch.

Our U-21's crashed out of the championship at the quarter final stage against a strong Kinvara team on Sunday morning. Abbey could never quite get to the pace of the game and struggled to cope with Kinvara's physicality. However, this is a young team with only 2 starting players overage next year and had 2 very good wins against Carnmore and Meelick/Eyrecourt in this campaign. The club would like to thank Seamus McWalter and Mary Coyle for the taking care of the physio treatment off the players and also the club officers who helped out with sliothars and equipment. Team was: A Devane, M O'Brien, C Mannion, C Murphy, B Loftus, A McDonnell, J Boyle, P Cooley, K Garvey, C Mulry, S King, F Garvey, D Flaherty, L McCarthy, and J Flaherty. Subs used, G Moran, T Warde, M McDonagh, D Keary and Ja Moran.

Underage - training resumed with a bang last Sunday, with a great crowd of young enthusiastic kids from 5-10 years of age all mad for action on a lovely sunny afternoon. Underage training continues next Sunday 12.30-1.30pm and all are welcome to attend. All players must register with the club by completing membership forms which are available online or by taking part in our excellent members monthly draw which covers full family membership and there is a guaranteed 4 winners every month. Also we need and request parents /guardians to help out in any small way possible to lighten the load for everyone, such as prepare fruit and refreshments for post training. Everyone is promoting the game on a voluntary basis so the more help no matter how small makes a big difference.

Underage training continues next Sunday 12.30 to 1.30pm all welcome. We'll also be starting out 50/50 underage draw for next week whereby each family will get a ticket to complete with name & mobile number and asked to insert €2 in envelope then after training each week we'll draw a winning family. The winner will get 50% of those weeks’ takings with the other 50 going to underage club. So if we get 100 tickets the winner get €50 and underage club gets €50 the more tickets the more the winner and underage will benefit. This will help defray the enormous costs of running an active club such as ours, with sliotars at €5 each and hurls from €18 to €25 it's all money unfortunately.

Our U14's were successful in securing the points against Skehana in the 1st round of championship in Skehana last Saturday. Well done to all who made the effort and who played some lovely hurling. Panel was Cian Forde, Ronan Dunleavy, Niall Farragher, Gearoid Quirke, Niall Forde, Jamie Collins, Tomas Brogan, Daniel Lydon, Michael Molloy, Cian Harris, Sean Lydon, James Quirke, Cian Quirke & Shane Loftus. We wish Rhys Forde a speedy recovery from his recent injury as he's an important member of our panel.

Our U16's were fixed to play Ballinasloe in Suck Valley league last Saturday but on arrival Ballinasloe conceded the points but agreed to play a challenge game which Abbey ended up winning on score line of 5-05 to 1-03. Panel was Cathal Cooley, Dara Coleman, Ciaran Farrelly, Colm Flaherty, Dylan Reynolds, Eric Neilan, Francis Ward, Gavin Cosgrove, Hugh McDonagh, Jamie Dooley, Mathew King, Philip Muldowney, Ryan Cosgrove.

Our U12's start 2015 with a round of the league V An Spideal next Saturday with details to be confirmed.

Training for U12/13 & 14's on Mondays 7-8pm on Astro. All welcome.

Camogie - Well done to the Junior C team who won 5-5 to 2-6 on their 1st game of the year against Carnmore. It was a hard fought game but the end result is what matters. Training continues for all teams this week as usual, with under age training being on Wednesday from 6:30-7:30pm.

If you haven't already please ensure you register your child and pay the relative fee's as games are commencing and all players must be registered and paid to be able to play in scheduled games.

We'd like to congratulate and thank all our club coaches who recently took the time to attend a first aid course, which is of huge importance to us here at the club.

The club wish to offer their condolences to John Cullen & his family on the death of his father who resides in Dublin and also to Noel Connolly and family on the passing of Frank Farrington.
