Underage Hurling: Our U6 & 8's played Skehana in a challenge in Abbey last Friday evening. It's great to see how much all kids have improved in a few weeks. The skill level on show from all teams and ages was excellent and the kids certainly love when they have a game. U/age training continues Friday's 7-8pm. All are Welcome.

U10s enjoyed challenge games against Tuam on Tuesday and Skehana on Friday. There were great hurling skills on display both evenings. Well done lads.

U12’s play the last round of their league v’s Kinvara this Wednesday in Abbey at 7pm. We were beaten by Castlegar last Wednesday but after the intense heat all day and considering most of the lads were in Cul Camp all day we don't know how they managed to tog out and play to such a high level as they did. Great credit to them.

Junior Hurling: Junior B's drew with Ballinderreen on Sunday evening in the championship. Full time score was 1-19 to 3-13. Trailing 1-9 to 0-7 at half time the team produced a strong second half display. Goals in the second half from Sean McCarthy, Rob Lally closed the gap on Ballinderreen and a football style finish from Cathal Coleman put Abbey a point in front with a few minutes left. A long range point at the end from Ballinderreen ended the game in a draw. Team: Mark Flaherty, Mike Gannon, Keith Higgins, Mike O'Brien, Eanna Connolly, Ger Ruane, Cian Murphy, Darren Collins, David Coleman, Jarlath Moran, Cathal Coleman, Danny Flaherty, Sean McCarthy, Rob Lally, Tomas Boyle. Sub Darren Blade. Well done to the team and management. Missing a good few regulars it was a very positive showing from the team. Qualification from the group stages is still in our own hands going into the final group game next weekend versus Menlo Emmets.

Camogie: Our U10 team won the County A final on Wednesday. This was an amazing achievement for all the players and their dedicated management team of Frank, Pat and Gerry. Thanks to everybody who came out and supported the girls at the game and lit fires. Thanks also to McGann’s who hosted the girls after their parish tour. See our Facebook page for more details and photos.

Juniors also had a great championship win Sunday evening defeating an experienced Craughwell team. Training for all age groups this Wednesday is at the earlier time of 6-7pm.

U12’s are away to Carnmore on Thursday at 6.30pm.

Monthly club meeting is scheduled for Wednesday at 9.30pm at the club. All parents and players are encouraged to attend.

Congratulations to Mike Gannon and Laura Connell on the birth of their baby girl Leah last week.

Congratulations to the Galway Intermediate team and our own Paul Flaherty who had a starring role hitting three points from wingback on their way to clinching the Intermediate Leinster Hurling title. Galway now look forward to an All-Ireland final against Cork on the 8th of August.

Well done to the Galway minor footballers, especially Caelom Mulry and Fionnan Garvey who drew with Sligo in the Connacht Minor Football Final. Replay this Friday in Tuam Stadium. Best of luck to the lads.

The Abbeyknockmoy Mid-Summer music festival returns to the Abbey Inn again this weekend for 2 nights of live music and dancing. Music from Mike Stewart, Kings of Connaught and Cool Country complete the line-up for Saturday night while Kevin Dwyer and Band, Don’t Do Hugs and Mark Roberts (A John Denver Tribute) entertain us on Sunday starting at 7pm. Tickets available from club officers or at the door for €10. All proceeds go to the development of our Hurling and Camogie Clubs and Abbey Community Playground.
