U6 training continues every Friday from 7-8pm. All welcome.

U8 and U10's continue with CATS tournament this week where we welcome Turloughmore to Abbey for 7.15pm throw in. Our U6's will be invited to play in the finals Day which is hosted by Carnmore on September 12th. Enjoy the games.

Last week our 8's & 10's welcomed Carnmore for our first CATS outing of this year. It was great to see the club grounds full of enthusiastic kids and all looking forward to getting a game. Our 8's and 10's competed excellently and we hope they enjoyed their outing.

Our U13's have reached the County Cup final after an enthralling semi-final in Kenny Park Athenry on Monday evening. It was a complete panel performance from 1 to 23 as this special young group of players just continue to improve and their never say die attitude is excellent. At the final whistle the score line was 4-05 to 2-01 but at the 3/4 mark this game was in the melting pot. It was in the last quarter where we really pushed on and the longer the game went on the better we were getting. The range of skills on display from high fielding, first touch and ground hurling was dazzling. Considering this team is so young and to have a final to look forward to is full credit to the entire panel for their commitment and dedication shown all year. Win, lose or draw, this group of young hurlers have given us some fantastic days out. Panel was : Jamie burke, James Quirke, Dara Burke, Lennan Doyle, Shane Loftus, Cian Forde, Mark Crehan, Thady Moran, Niall Farragher, Jamie Collins, Alex Park, Gavin Kelly, Michael Molloy, Luke Forde, Sean Lydon, Olin Murray, Dara King, Thomas Brogan, Shane Forde, Dean Collins, Cian Quirke, Kian Flaherty, Jack Kearney,

Camogie: Well done to all Galway teams this weekend with Senior and u16 Camogie teams and Senior and Minor hurling teams reaching All Ireland finals. Training continues Wednesday and Friday as usual. Congratulations to Abbeyknockmoy Set dancers who won several All-Ireland medals over the weekend at the Fleadh in Sligo.

The Galway County Camogie Board are holding a Countywide Church Gate Collection to raise funds for the Senior Teams trip to Croker for this year’s All Ireland Final. Members of Abbeyknockmoy Camogie Club will be collecting on their behalf at Brooklodge, Monivea and Abbeyknockmoy services on both Saturday evening and Sunday morning. Your support for the County Camogie team would be appreciated.

The Camogie Club's monthly meeting will be held this Wednesday 19th at 9:30pm in the Club. All are welcome.

With just under 3 weeks to go, preparations for this year’s ‘Run in the Woods’ are well under way. The event this year sees a lot of changes with it now moving from Sunday morning to Saturday evening, the addition of a 10km route and changes to the existing 5km route. We've also decided that as it's a Saturday evening to make the most of it so to start us up and get the race started in high spirits, Janet Griffin of Wellbeing Physical Fitness will be leading the warm ups on the Village Green. Afterwards, before winners are announced, we'll be having the Children’s Race on the Village Green which is growing in popularity every year. We also have a relay race with some fantastic prizes. To further enhance our post-race celebrations there'll be music and a BBQ by Dee Jordan.

Online entry is now open on www.active.com or you can enter on the day. Further details are available on our club website and also on our Facebook page ‘Run in the Woods’. Our chosen charity partner this year is the Abbeyknockmoy Community Playground Project so we'd encourage you all to try and support. We have sponsorship cards available for anyone who'd like to raise some extra funds, just contact Sharon 085-7074747 or for an online donation page contact Gerry 087-2559567.

Any questions please feel free to contact the Race Director Sharon on 085-7074747. We are so looking forward to another great day and hope to see you all there.
