There was no jackpot or match 3 winner in this week's lotto. The numbers drawn were 14, 16, 18 and 23. Next week's draw for €3,400 will take place in the Woodside.

Congrats to Moira Fox who claimed the top prize of €700 in our monthly draw last Monday night and to Sean Murphy, Dr. John Flaherty and Tomas Coady who each won €100. We thank all members who continue to contribute to this fundraising draw. If you wish to enter the Monthly draw which entitles you to free family membership please contact Catherine on 087 6900352 to enter the draw.

Training Tuesdays and Fridays at 7.45pm for all adult players. Intermediates drew with Meelick-Eyrecourt in a tough championship encounter last Sunday in Loughrea. There was no quarter asked or given in this first group game. Abbey led at the break 1-5 to 0-6 with the goal expertly converted by Caelom Mulry. The second half especially had a real cut and thrust of championship as both teams battled it out to claim the honours. Either team could have snatched a win in the dying minutes but a draw was probably a fair result. Abbey had great performances throughtout the field with a stubborn defense, industrious midfield and hard working attack. Abbey were best served by Brian Costello, Brian Flaherty, Coleman Maher, Danny Mullins, Ronan Cooley, Paul Flaherty, Padraig O'Donnell and Caelom Mulry. Full time score 1-8 to 0-11. In the other group game Kilbeacanty beat Ballindereen to top the group after round 1. Next up for Abbey is Ballindereen which is scheduled to take place on the weekend of the 12th of July. Team was Declan Molloy, Tomas Blade, Brian Costello, Stephen Ruane, Coleman Maher, Brian Flaherty , David Carton, Ronan Cooley, Danny Mullins, Paul Flaherty, Padraig O'Donnell, John Blade, Eoin Blade,  Trevor Mullins and Caelom Mulry. Subs used John Culkin and Craig Kennedy. It was great to see Gabriel Divilly at the game last Sunday, we wish him well with his recovery.

Juniors suffered a one point defeat to Kinvara in their opening championship group game last Saturday evening in Carnmore. Abbey playing with the elements in the first half trailed at half-time 1-6 to 0-6 but two second half goals put us ahead in late in the 2nd but Kinvara responded to edge out this contest by the minimum. Full time score: 1-15 to 2-11. Team was Mark Flaherty, Keith Higgins, Richie Fox, Stephen Joyce, Declan Moran, Gerry Farragher, Paddy Flaherty, Ger Ruane, Paul Cooley, Shane King, Darren Collins, Frank Carton, Kevin Lally, Brian Cooley, Eoin Flaherty. Subs David Coleman, Dean Keary, Vinny Lally, David Williams.

U-14's were defeated by a strong Ballinasloe outfit last Thursday in their county shield final. The weather conditions in the second half (thunder, lightning and heavy showers) made playing of the game very dangerous and the game was held up for over 20mins until the lightning and thunder ceased but the rain never let up as the game resumed for the final 15 minutes. Great credit must go both the players who put in a gallant effort on the resumption of the 2nd half to get back into the game after trailing 0-6 to 1-0 at half time but momentum was broke when the storm arrived. Abbey's goal coming from Gavin Cosgrove. Craig Higgins scored two superb points early in the second half but Ballinasloe finished strong to capture the shield on a full time score 1-12 to 1-2. Panel was Matthew King, Ronan Dunleavy, Rhys Forde, Shane Igoe, Gearoid Quirke, Daniel Lydon, Niall Furey, Keith Boyle, Sean King, Jason Joyce, Craig Higgins, Dara Coleman, Niall Forde, Gavin Cosgrove, Jaden O'Connor, Kieran Farrelly, Michael Molloy, Cian Forde, Cillian Burke and Jack Fleming. U-13's defeated Athenry 2 last Monday evening in their opening championship group game on a full time score of 3-6 to 2-4. Well done to team and management. U-13 and U-12 training continues this Thursday from 6.30pm. Underage training for U-6, U-8's and U-10's continues this Sunday from 12.30pm.
