For the second year running our intermediate team have qualified to the semi-final of their championship after a convincing 4-11 to 1-14 win over Kilbeacanty which meant we topped our group and were drawn to play in the semi-finals along with Moycullen. The remaining two semi-final positions will be go to the winners of Ballindereen V Ahascragh-Fohenagh and Rahoon-Newcastle V Cappataggle quarter final clashes. which are due to be played on the 4th/5th of October.  In the opening 10 mins Kilbeacanty dominated the game scoring a goal and 2 points to Abbey's one point but having got to grips with the pace of the game Abbey collectively grew into the game and early, fast ball to our youthful full forward line began to pay off with each player getting the better of their opposite number. Abbey goaled through Caelom Mulry and Eoin Blade to take command of proceeding towards the half time break. Half time score 2-06 to 1-06. Abbey's points came from Eoin Blade, Craig Kennedy, Paul Flaherty (0-2, 1 free), Caelom Mulry and Trevor Mullins. At the resumption of the second half Abbey again allowed Kilbeacanty back into the game with three unanswered points before Paul Flaherty netted Abbey's third goal. Eoin Blade on the 10 minute marked smashed Abbey's 4th goal of the game which left the score at 4-08 to 1-10. Paul Flaherty and substitute John Culkin hit points to give Abbey a comprehensive 6 point win.
