Intermediates drew with Ballindereen in their second championship group game last Saturday evening in Athenry. Qualification tothe quarter final is very much in our hands, we need to defeat Kilbeacanty in our final game due to played in mid September. Abbey were very sluggish in the first half trailing 5 - 4 after 25 mins but a final few minutes of dominance in that half saw us lead 8-5 at halftime. We failed to push on from this good period and its was a tight second half until late on when Ballindereen goaled to lead by 2 points with minutes remaining, Abbey's standout performer Danny Mullins scored a fantastic score from play and levelled the game in the dying minutes after a foul on Craig Kennedy. Abbey team was Declan Molloy, Tommy Farragher, Brian Costello, Coleman Maher, Brian Flaherty, Tomas Blade, Danny Mullins (0-9), Ronan Cooley, Eoin Blade (0-1), Padraig O'Donnell (0-1), John Culkin, Caelom Mulry (0-1), Trevor Mullins (0-1), Craig Kennedy (0-2). Subs used Brian O'Donnell & John Blade.
