Lotto: Numbers drawn were 6, 9, 13, 23. There was no jackpot winner but there 3 match 3 winners who'll each receive €40. Congrats to David Williams of Newtown, Michael Smyth of Ryehill and Ronan Dolly of Newtown. Next weeks jackpot is €4300 and the draw will be in Ryans Bar.

Hurling: The CATS tournament got off to a good start in Turloughmore on Monday last with the U10s finishing in a draw on a scoreline of 1-4 a piece and the U8s & U6s got to play a great challenge match.
The Junior B team were defeated by Salthill in the championship last Friday on a final score of 2-17 to 0-11. Next game is against Craughwell this weekend but the fixture is not as yet confirmed.
The Intermediates are away to Meelick Eyrecourt on Tuesday evening, results will be posted on Facebook. Good luck to them.
U13s are through to the Shield Final but the fixture is not yet confirmed.

Camogie: Well done to our U14 girls whose win over Ballinasloe has secured them a place in the North Board Semi-Finals. Ballinasloe have always had a strong side and to their credit they had some fine players out in force this evening but our girls having been beat by this side before were out to get a win this time. It was Ballinasloe who were first to get on the score board having 2 points up on us, but that was short lived as our defense closed in, determined not to give anything away. Huge work was put in by the midfielders to get the ball down to our forwards and their hard work paid off with a total of 4 goals being scored. The heat was intense but our girls kept the pace and didn't give in till the final whistle. It really was a super game, well done!! Full time score Abbey 4-0 to Ballinasloe 0-3
Yesterday some of our u9s and younger players went to Skehana to celebrate their Clubs 25th anniversary. It was anticipated that we'd play 3 games in all but due to other clubs not turning up on the day we only got 1 proper game which was against a very strong Skehana side but our girls played super well and although Skehana were bigger and stronger than ours the game finished in a draw with 2 goals a side. The extra training sessions are paying off....well done girls!! Thank you to Skehana Camogie Club for inviting us to join in their special day, it was a well organised day with fun for all ages.
Under age training continues as usual every Wednesday between 7-8pm.
Junior B/Minor/U16s training every Tuesday and Thursday however this Thursday they'll be playing away to St. Thomas in their 2nd round of the championship. Good luck to all & supporters always welcomed.

General: Last Saturday to 'Abbey Conquers the Reek' proved a huge success whereby members & supporters who fundraised boarded a bus from Monivea & Abbeyknockmoy and headed for the famous Westport Reek. In the intense heat of 30c +, all involved dug deep and were duly rewarded for their achievement and enthusiasm by witnessing the most stunning views ever seem from Croagh Patrick " Ireland's Holy Mountain" in what truly was a special occasion and the sense of teamwork and commadery was something unique!
The climb was followed by a sumptuous BBQ and FEW drinks along with a good old sing along and there was a general feel good factor of a club united. It was a day recorded by those in attendance but etched in memory forever!!
Another event coming up this week as part of the Abbeyknockmoy Gathering is the Hurling Club Gathering this Saturday 27th at 8pm in Donohues, which we hope will be as memorable as the Reek Climb. This event is open to all players and members both old and new, we will be acknowledging the many benchmark events which have passed and we are sure there'll be some fantastic stories told of days gone by. We look forward to seeing everyone on the night.
