Hurling: Well done to all the U8 players who played two games against Annaghdown last Friday. They won their 1st match but weren't so lucky in their 2nd.
The u14 team are playing the Co. Semi-Final against Salthill in Loughrea this Thursday at 7:30pm where is is preceeded by the other semi-final of Liam Mellows v Kiltormer/T Larkins at 6:30pm. The team have done very well to date and we wish them well in their endeavors. Support would be greatly appreciated.
The Junior team had a draw against Clarinbridge last week in Turloughmore, final score Abbey 1-10 to Clarinbridge 2-7. Their next outing is the weekend after next but fixture is to be confirmed. Training continues Friday evening at 7:30pm
Our Intermediate team played the 2nd stage of the championship against Killimor last Sunday in Ballinasloe. Despite the inclement weather over the course of the last week the pitch and weather conditions were ideal for hurling. This was a crunch game for both teams and a close encounter was expected. In the early stages both teams traded points from play and frees, however the defining score came from a good move by Killimor where they scored a goal in the 1st ten minutes from a poor defensive play by Abbey. The game continued in this fashion where both teams traded points wit Killimor leading at the break on a score of 1-6 to 0-6.
The 2nd half continued in the same vein with both teams trading points from play with the goal separating the teams. The sending off of the Abbey keeper who earlier made an excellent save,  together with the Killimor full forward in the closing stages in an uncharacteristic altercation did not help Abbeys cause. Try as Abbey might they failed to produce a goal in the final moment with Killimor scoring a 2nd goal in the dying moments to win on a score of 2-13 to 0-12. Over the course of the game Abbey had the better of the exchanges with some excellent play from Danny Mullins, Paul Flaherty and Ronan Cooley, however the number of wides by Abbey with some careless shooting is a cause of concern with Killimor clinical from their possession. However all is not lost for Abbey as they have one final game to play against Loughrea to make amends and secure a group place in the final stages. For the record the team was: D. Molloy, P. Cooley, T. Farragher, D. Carton, P. Flaherty, S. Ruane, G. Ruane, R. Cooley, C. Maher, D. Mullins, P. O'Donnell, P. Flaherty, S. King, B. Flaherty, E. Blade. Subs used: A Devane (replacement goalie)

Camogie: Under age training continues this and every Wednesday from 7 - 8pm

General: Congrats to Rob Lally and Emma Blade on the birth of their baby boy.
