There was no jackpot winner but well done to Mary Dooley of Abbert, Michael Killeen on Galway Rd, Tomas Cooley of Kilskeagh and Brendan Geraghty of Moyne who each receive €40 for matching 3 numbers. Next weeks jackpot is €4200 and the draw will be in The Woodside. Many thanks to all who support our local lotto. We also have the online lotto just go to and click on the lotto link.

Hurling: U8 blitz held on Saturday in Abbey pitch with over 90 players in attendance and 9 games played, special thanks to Annaghdown, Athenry and Skehana for traveling on the day. Abbeyknockmoy with the help of the camogie club fielded two teams who displayed great skill in matches played. Specials thanks to a number of people who made it a very successful day, the referees: Shane King, Stephen Ruane and Declan Molloy, the refreshments ladies: Catherine Forde, Tina Burns, Marie Forde and Caroline Boyle and the many parents who contributed sandwiches, buns etc. Finally to the players ,many supporters and all families who turned out on the day, Míle buíochas as an faoi 8 bhainistíocht.

Well done to our U13's who won the last of their group games against Beagh on Monday evening. We await update as to the next stage to see where we're at. Updates will be posted on our Facebook page.

Well done to the U16's who played Ballinasloe on Thursday evening last and coming out victorious with a scoreline of 2-15 to 1-3. Keep up the good work lads! They are due to play their last game in this stage this coming Thursday away to Cois Fharraige. Whatever the result of this game the lads are safely through to the Semi Finals as they've won all their other games. Support for the team is appreciated.

Saturday last saw the final round of the group stages in the Intermediate Hurling Championship in what was a must win game for both teams. The first half of the game produced some good play from the Abbey side with only 2 balls going wide whereas their counterparts had 9 in the 1st half which effectively cost them the game. Brian O'Donnell seized the opportunity to get a goal by kicking the ball into the back of the net. The half time score was Abbey 1-6 to Ballindereen 0-7, with 5 of those points coming from Paul Flaherty. In the second half Abbey really opened up the game scoring a further 16 points and at one stage there were 9 points scored in succession which went unanswered from the Ballindereen side. In the last few minutes of the game Ballindereen managed to score a consolation goal but in the end it wasn't near enough with Abbey winning on a final score of 1-22 to 1-13. Credit to all the team and management for their hard work, with the full backs putting in a huge amount of work and points scored by Padraig O'Donnell, Eoin Blade, Caoilin Blade, Shane King and of course Ronan Cooley who played a stormer of a game as did Paul Flaherty scoring 13 of the 22 points in this game, but over all you couldn't fault anyone's performance, as everyone put in a huge effort and they worked extremely well together which was evident in the full time score. This was by far one of the best games from an Abbey side in the last few years and with it's 25th anniversary coming up since they last won a Senior County title, many in the parish are hoping that this year might be the year to put Abbey back on the map. Indeed one good game isn't enough and this performance needs to be repeated and improved upon to win the quarter final stage, but it's fair to say that throughout the season Abbeys form has been improving all the time. The draw is due to take place next week so we'll find out then who we'll be facing in the quarter finals.

Camogie: Under age training every Wednesday at 7pm. Training for Junior B/Minor/U16s every Tuesday & Thursday.

The U9's have been invited to Skehana this Sunday to take part in their 25th Anniversary celebrations. On the day as well as playing the blitzes they are having a BBQ, face painting, there'll be an ice cream van and more games. We are delighted to have been invited to join in their celebrations and are looking forward to the day.
