2nd May 2012 Club Notes

Lotto results: Numbers drawn were 3, 10, 21 and 23. There was no jackpot winner . Congratulations to the 5 match 3 winners who each receive €40 Paddy Forde, Tony Roche, Shane Brannelly, Shane Martin & Padraig Broderick. Next weeks jackpot is €9,900 and the draw will take place in the Ryans Bar. The winners of the monthly members draw were Dr John. Flaherty who won the 1st prize of €700 and then Carmel Cooley, Michael Moran & Peter Fanning each receive €100.

Hurling: The Intermediate Hurlers opening match of the championship was a bitterly disappointing performance and result. Abbey struggled to get going in the first half and trailed 5pts to 1pt at half time their only score coming from Paul Flaherty a minute before half time. Kilconieron also started the second half better and got an early goal which made Abbey's task much harder. Brian Flaherty opened his account with a point from a free and followed up with a point from play shortly after, but Abbey couldn't get that vital goal which could have brought them back into contention. Abbey's final point came from Padraic Mac Maghnuis to round off a forgetful day. Although the wind was a factor Abbey just didn't perform especially the forwards on the day. The final score line was Abbeyknockmoy 0-4 Kilconieron 1-7. Team: D Molloy, T.Farragher, S.Ruane, D.Carton, P Flaherty, J.Blade, P Cooley, J Culkin, G.Ruane, P.MacMaghnuis, P.O'Donnell, B.Flaherty, B.O'Donnell, Paul Flaherty, D.Collins. Subs. C.Maher for P.Cooley, K.Flaherty for B.O'Donnell and S.King for D.Collins.
