Hurling: Under age training continues Sunday morning at 12:30 - 1:30pm at the pitch in Abbey. Congratulations to our U-13 team who were crowned County Champions last weekend in Ballinasloe after defeating Cois Farraige in the final. The groundwork for the victory was laid in the first half where Abbey playing with great team spirit against a stiff breeze and fought tenaciously for every ball and were duly deserving of the lead at half-time on a score-line of 1-4 to 1-3. The second half continued in the same vane and with wind assistance Abbey began to pull away with unerring free taking from Cathal Cooley to win on a score line of 1-11 to 1-4. Ryan Cosgrove, team captain accepted the County Cup and Colm Flaherty accepting the Man of the Match Award for a great all round display. In truth the whole team put in a magnificent performance and were deserving County Champions. Special thanks to Fintan Cosgrove & Conor Cooley for managing the team. For the record the team was Matthew King, Francis Ward, Jamie Dooley, Sean King, Rossa Ryan, Dara Coleman, Philip Muldowney, Ryan Cosgrove (Capt), Cathal Cooley (0-6), Shane Conroy (1-0), Eric Neilan, Dillon Reynolds (0-1), Gavin Cosgrove (0-1) Colm Flaherty (0-3), Jason Joyce, Craig Higgins, Keith Boyle, Jaden Kilmartin, Kieran Farrelly, Lorcan Kelly, Oisin Fagan, Jaden O'Connor

Camogie: There is no under age training this week on account of the Galway Races, training will resume on Wednesday 8th. The Junior B team were out last Thursday evening in a home match against Kilconieron. Final score was Abbeyknockmoy V's Kilconieron 2-5 to 3-2. This was an epic game for the new Abbey Junior B's who lead throughout the entire game. They were so close to their 1st win but Kilconieron scoring a point in the last minute balanced out the score. It was a brilliant game displaying great skill and teamwork from the Abbey side. Well done! We wish a speedy recovery to Leanne Flaherty.

Our Under 14s lost to Ahascragh/Caltra in the North Board League last Thursday evening on a score line of 4-2 to 0-8. Ahascragh got off to a good start when they scored 2 goals but our girls battled back by scoring 6 points to Ahascraghs 1 and we were only behind by a point at half time but Ahascragh came out after half time and scored another goal and a point. Our girls got the next 2 points and were attacking Ahascraghs goal only for a few good saves from Ahascraghs keeper to deny us from getting closer to them with time running out Ahascragh caught us on the break and got their final goal. It was a great performance from the girls and we're looking forward to the next match which is against Mountbellew.
