Our eighth monthly Limited Members Draw takes place in the Ryan's Bar & Lounge, Laragh this Saturday night.

Important club meeting for all club officers, managers and finance committee this Thursday at 9pm in the clubhouse.

Intermediates were knocked out of the championship last weekend on a final score of 1-12 to 1-09. A late Ahascragh/Fohenagh goal was the killer blow abbey could have done without. Abbey dominated the second half but were unable to score hitting numerous wides in the first 20mins of that half after leading 1-06 to 0-8 at the break. Ahascragh through these missed chances were never out of the game and dually converted the game changing score at the death. The team and management of Pat Blade, Gerry Daly, Jody Flaherty and Brendan Connolly are bitterly disappointed not to have advanced further in the competition. For the record the team was Declan Molloy, John Blade, Tommy Farragher, David Carton, David Coleman, Brian Flaherty (0-1), Danny Mullins, Padraig O'Donnell, Ronan Cooley, Paul Flaherty(0-5, All Frees), Padraig O'Donnell, Kieran Flaherty (1-0), Brian O'Donnell (0-1), Eoin Flaherty, Brian Cooley (0-1), Padhraic Mac Maghnuis (0-1). Subs: John Culkin, Eoin Blade, Coleman Maher.

Minor & U-16 training continues this evening (Wednesday) and Friday at 6.45pm. Minor final has been fixed for the 16th of October. Time and venue to be confirmed closer to the date.

U-16 triumphed in their county final in a rain soaked Mountbellew last Sunday morning. Final score 2-10 to 1-06. Abbey got off to a fantastic start when Liam McCarthy struck a major with less than 5 minutes gone. This set the tone for the game, with Abbey leading to the finish line and Sylane endeavouring to close the gap. This win was built on a solid defence where the halfback line and especially Paul Cooley lead the team to victory converting a stunning effort from 40 metres after running from his half back position. Daniel Flaherty goaled in the second half, finding the net from the boot to press home our advantage. The team on the day was Alan Devane, Thomas Ward, John Burke (Capt.), Cian Murphy, Fionnan Garvey, Noel Garvey, Paul Cooley (0-1), Cathal Mannion (0-1), Kenneth Garvey, Daniel Flaherty (1-06, 4 frees), Martin Finn (0-1), Matthew Mills, Liam McCarthy (1-0), Darragh Maher, Eoin Loftus (0-1). Subs Glen Moran, Sean Miller, Dylan Moran, Barry Loftus, Jason Flaherty, Caelom Mulry, Michael O'Brien, Conor Mannion. Congratulations to the team on a fantastic performance and to the manager Brian Cooley and his selectors Aidan Flaherty and Keith Ruane.
