The rain had cleared but ground conditions were slippery. Fielding without leaving cert students, Abbeyknockmoy were up against a physically imposing St Columba's from the city and could only register three points in the first half playing into the wind. Luckily St Columba's failed to find their scoring touch and themselves also only registered three points, leaving matter all square at half time. Veteran Michael Coleman landed a side-line cut in to the square where Joseph Conroy found the time and space to calmly goal thus settling the team overall. Conroy again found the net minutes later and narrowly missed a hat-trick near full time. Eoin Blade tagged on a few points to leave the final score Abbeyknockmoy 2.07 St Columba's 1.04. Best for Abbeyknockmoy was Tomas Blade ably assisted in defence by Nigel Keary and Keith Higgins with Eoin Blade and the tireless Gerry Faragher further out.
