Led by captain Eoin Blade Abbeyknockmoy played into a strong breeze and got off to a strong start as they raced into a 1-03 to 0-00 lead after ten minutes, Salthill replied with three points before abbey regained control and pushed on to lead by 3-06 to 0-04 at half time. The second half continued as the first had nded with Abbey dominiating the game throughout the field. Our impressive goalkeeper Dean Keary made two suerb saves and was well served by the tight defence in front of him where Paul Flaherty, Cathal Laheen and John Burke were to the fore. Our midfield pairing of Padraig MacMhaighnis and Colm Mannion provided quality ball to our forwards and worked tirelessly to help out at the back. Up front our full forward line did most of the damage with brilliant performances from Caoilin Blade and Eoin Blade with Vinny Lally helping himself to 2-02. Craig Kennedy, Sean McCarthy & Daniel Collins all got on the scoreboard from the half forward line.
