Their was no jackpot winner in the Joe Coleman Roofing & Carpentry Sponsored Lotto last Monday night. The numbers drawn were 4, 8, 10 and 19. Congratulations to Eamonn & Margaret Newman, Gerry Farragher, Brendan Smyth and Padraic McGann on being this week's match three winners. Next weeks draw takes place in O'Donohue's, jackpot €1,800. Supporters are encouraged to avail Direct Debit as a convenient means of playing the club's Lotto on a weekly basis, the direct debit mandate can be downloaded from the club website.

Our Fundraising event has been rescheduled this Bank Holiday Sunday 2nd of May. Tickets are still on sale for €20 from club officials and players, your continued support is welcomed and appreciated. Ticket Sellers are asked to return tickets asap. Club meeting this Wednesday at 9.30pm at club grounds.

Training continues Wednesday at 7.30pm for all adult players. Intermediates face Loughrea in the league this Saturday at 6.30pm in Abbey. Juniors face Skehana Sunday in the league at 12pm in Abbey. Minor training continues Wednesday at 7.30pm, we face Salthill in our second championship group game this Bank Holiday Monday at 4pm in Carnmore. U-16 training continues Thursday evening at 7.30pm.

Juniors were defeated by Craughwell in the league last Friday evening on a scoreline of 0-16 to 1-07. Team on the day was Cathal Duffy, Kieran Flaherty, Michael Coleman, Darren Blade, Declan Moran, Stephen Ruane, Colm Flaherty, Danny Mullins, Tomas Diskin, Trevor Mullins, Darren Collins, Frank Carton, Keith Ruane, Mark Flaherty, Eoin Blade. subs Mal Dolly and Johnathon Flaherty. Abbey trailed at half time 0-9 to 0-6 in a tight affair. Both sides were guilty of alot of wides. Craughwell were much the fitter and quicker on the ball. Abbey added 1-1 in the second half, the goal coming from Mark Flaherty to Craughwell's 7 point haul.

Intermediates defeated Annaghdown in their first championship group game of 2010 on a scoreline of 0-13 to 0-05. Captain Ronan Cooley won the toss and elected to play into a stiff breeze. We lead at half time 0-5 to 0-4, with points coming from Brian Flaherty and Brian O'Donnell. With the aid of the breeze Abbey found it hard to shake of the Annaghdown challenge until the remaining 15 mins when we pushed clear to gain a winning margin of 8 points with a succession of scores from Ronan Cooley, Brian Cooley, Brian Flaherty and Brian O'Donnell. Team on the day was Declan Molloy, David Carton, Tommy Farragher, Richie Fox, John Culkin, Brian Costello, Padraig O'Donnell, Ronan Cooley (0-1), John Blade, Paul Flaherty, Brian Cooley (0-2), Brian Flaherty (0-8, 3 frees), Brian O'Donnell (0-2), Kieran Flaherty, Colman Maher. subs used Ger Ruane and Danny Mullins. Abbey were best served on the day by the evergreen Richie Fox, John Culkin, Ronan Cooley, John Blade, Brian Flaherty, Brian O'Donnell, Brian Cooley and Colman Maher.

Under-age hurling for under 8's,10's & 12's continues this Sunday from 12.30 to 1.30 and all are welcome. We would be appreciative if spare underage helmets could be returned to the club to sell on to the up and coming hurlers in the club.
