Underage:  Our Underage AGM was held last Thursday evening at the clubhouse with a good attendance. Chairman Declan Molloy welcomed all to the meeting after what was an incredible year for Abbeyknockmoy HC with the intermediate team securing senior status after 10 long years and an All-Ireland Semi Final to look forward to on January 24th in Navan. He thanked every corner of the parish for the massive support the Club received and said how brilliant it was to see flags, signs & bunting at every turn. It was also superb to see so many boys & girls at all the games pucking around supporting their club colours. In what was a good year for our underage teams, our newcomers the U6's got to pull on a club jersey for the first time as they played a number of display games at our Annual CAT's tournaments hosted this year by Carnmore. Thanks to Sean O'Donnell, Declan Treacy, & Cathal Coleman for looking after this VIP group. Our U8 panel this year had great numbers attending all year and really went from strength to strength during the year and ended up winning the Shield in the CAT's. Thanks for Willie Browne, Pat Joyce & David Ryan. U10's had a good year finishing with winning their game at the East Galway league finals day. Thanks to Adrian Forde & Tommy Boyle for looking after them. U12's had a super year winning 6 out of their 7 leagues games and won the shield final by beating Michael Cusack’s. Then they had a great day out winning the Cup final in the Aodh Ruadh tournament in Ballyshannon. Management was Declan Molloy, Adrian Forde & Cathal Moran. U13's did well to reach the Co. Final played in Kenny Park which was great for the lads to get to play in Athenry. Unfortunately we were beaten by a strong Ballinasloe team on the day but the team did themselves proud. Management team was Declan Molloy, Adrian Forde & Cathal Moran. U14's highlight was their Feile weekend, playing Tuam at home the Friday evening before travelling to our host club Portumna for a super day of hurling on the Saturday. Our boys were very unlucky not to qualify for the final on Sunday. The panel looked the part with their club gear which was purchased from proceeds of the table quiz.  Thanks to all who contributed and travelled to support the team. Thanks to Jerry Quirke, Sean Moran, Declan Molloy & Adrian Forde. U15's & 16's had a very stop start year with championship starting early then stopping for exams. The team were unlucky with injuries to key players at crucial times and were misfortunate in narrowly losing early games by the narrowest of margins but they gave some great displays and showed the true abbey spirit in all games. Thanks to Michael Coleman & David Staunton for their time.

Newly elected Club Treasurer Michael Coleman gave a detailed breakdown of the club finances and the ongoing battle to ensure funds were available as the costs involved in running such an active club are enormous. He stressed the need for all players to be registered members and Michael thanked everyone who supported the club financially during the year via lotto, monthly draw etc. and especially to our entire Club sponsors for their continued support.

Abbey camogie were mentioned for their successful year gone by and were wished the very best heading into their 6th year.

Officers and team managers were then elected for 2016 and the meeting closed with the Chairman wishing everyone the very best for 2016. Abbey Abu!

U13/14 hurling training returns next week on Astro 7-8pm Monday and Thursday. All welcome
